Diagnostic Procedures
To diagnose the gastro esophageal reflux disease, the following specific tests are being undertaken:
- EMS (Esophageal motility study) or Esophageal Manometry, is a study performed to evaluate the pressure of the esophagus in various stages along its length.
- Impedance-PH monitoring
- Gastric Endoscopy or EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy)
Endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic medical procedure consisting in introducing a flexible device, containing a micro-camera at one end, to assess the interior surfaces of an organ. Patients may receive sedation so as to avoid discomfort.
