Dental implant surgery in Guatemala: depending on the type of procedure and taking into account your personal preference, you’ll receive either local anesthesia or conscious sedation. Usually dental implant surgery is performed under local anesthesia.
For persons with diabetes or high blood pressure, a basic clinical test is recommended (Clotting times & Glucose). Those tests can be performed in Guatemala prior to your first appointment for US$30.00
Dental implant procedures in Guatemala are taking place in 2 stages: first the implant or artificial root is placed into the jawbone under anesthesia, it is then allowed to heal and integrate with your dental bone.
When the tooth is located at the back of the jaw, no provisional crown is placed on the implant to accelerate healing. The healing process generally takes anywhere from 3 to 6 months, depending on each patient.
Once the healing process is over and the implants have integrated, the patient returns to Guatemala where your prosthodontist will manufacture customized porcelain crowns attached to your implants.
Upon leaving the dental office in Guatemala or Antigua, you will receive a prescription for medication if deemed necessary; the dental surgeon will give you his cell number, so you can reach him if you have a problem.
